Ninebark Design Landscape Projects

Mt. Tabor Middle School Courtyard

This school courtyard was in need of some TLC. Leaking downspouts would regularly flood the area making it impossible to walk through at times. The landscape was weeds and half-dead shrubs. This project was possible due to student and parent volunteers who put in work hours and raised money for landscape supplies. Ninebark designed and managed the project working alongside the incredible volunteers to beautify the courtyard.

Hawthorne Neighborhood Shade Garden

Our goal was to design a garden that highlighted the craftsmanship of the house using intentional colors and natural stone. Replacing both the narrow cracked primary walkway and the uneven lava rock retaining wall was essential to visually elevating the space.

Richmond Neighborhood Naturalistic Garden

This naturalistic planting design includes a new fence, flagstone path, gravel path, multiple rain gardens, drip irrigation, and an eco lawn. The diverse planting plan uses many PNW native plants along with other climate-adaptive perennials and grasses.

Ladds Addition Neighborhood Backyard Planting

This jewel box of a garden knew exactly what it wanted. Great color contrast with the house, a few architectural statements that fit the size, and textures that moved in the breeze to soften and lighten the mood.

Laurelhurst Neighborhood Backyard Patio and Garden

This backyard went from fairly unusable to absolutely fabulous! Such a great example of how our outdoor spaces can radically change our everyday lives. The main goal was to have a space to entertain friends and family and enjoy a meal together outside. Now, book clubs, grilling, and just having a peaceful moment to oneself (and the dog, of course) can be found right out the backdoor.

Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Modern Style

Combining modern elements like the Castohn® pavers walkway handset in a gently meandering way along with the black basalt boulders creates a sophisticated look.

Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Cutie Pie

This adorable landscape has a rain garden and an overflow dry creek bed tucked in. The pink door asked for pink flowers in a stylized meadow. Drought tolerant and native plants were chosen that can handle the full sun and dry summers.

Richmond Neighborhood New Construction

A new construction site with a dry well installed in the front yard needed a unique planting plan for some challenging light conditions.

Ladds Addition Neighborhood Front Yard

The history and stories this house and yard could tell! So many trinkets and statues and layers of hidden brick and concrete. The goal was to update the front yard without adding any major hardscape elements. Something refreshing, charming and updated without going too formal or modern.

Ninebark's Home Garden

Every garden has a story to tell. I have lived on this particular lot for just a few years bringing it from mayhem to manageable. Mostly.
