This backyard was mostly unusable as it was, but there was so much potential.
An existing rotted deck that was situated too high for any privacy and too small to really use for anything was removed. It was replaced with a small paver landing and steps leading two directions onto the new patio. The existing maples were pruned and a mosaic of colorful plants and smaller shrubs were installed in the understory. The garage was painted a cheery terracotta color and, since then, we've added a trellis for a fragrant jasmine vine, colorful overflowing flower planters, and a grilling area. A wooden gate was also added to keep area fenced for Almond, the dog. A few flagstones were placed in an area for hammock season between the trees and underplanted with flowering groundcover.
